We are just back from the luxurious four-star Limerick Strand Hotel located in the heart of the city. This award-winning hotel is situated overlooking the River Shannon and is very close to all local attractions including Thomond Park, the Milk Market and King John Castle.
What has the hotel got to offer?
Limerick Strand Hotel oozes class and is one of the most comfortable hotels we have visited in a while, the executive rooms located on the fourth floor are very comfortable and offer guests access to the executive lounge, a relaxing area with complimentary soft drinks, coffees and newspapers.
Energize Health Centre is a nice spot to relax and has four pools including a 20-metre swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi.
Our package included dinner and breakfast, we dined in the River Restaurant and enjoyed a delicious three-course meal.
The food is locally sourced and the menus are overseen by Executive Chef Tom Flavin. I highly recommend the seafood chowder as a starter and Monkfish as the main course.
The hotel is within walking distance of a large number of shops, restaurants and nightlife. Limerick city has an impressive amount of trendy coffee and street food hangouts opening up regularly.

Funky Donuts
Only a 3-minute walk from the Hotel, Funky Donuts is a cool deluxe doughnuts cafe which specializes in delicious mouth watering desserts.
Charlie Chaplin’s Pub
After a day exploring the city of culture, it was nice to sit back and relax with a cocktail in Charlie Chaplin’s Pub. The pub has an impressive array of gins, cocktails and beers and is the perfect pit stop after a long day of Christmas shopping. We enjoyed a couple of drinks while watching Ireland vs Australia rugby match.
If you are looking to get a start on the Christmas shopping, the Limerick Strand Hotel has a really good special offer on at the moment.
