Hook Lighthouse Tour County Wexford Updated

Last year, before COVID-19 we traveled to Wexford during the Christmas break. We had such a good time, sandy beaches, delicious pub grub, and lots of stuff to do including visiting and taking a guided tour of Hook Lighthouse.

I plan to return to Wexford on holiday again as soon as we’re all back on track and ready to travel again.

I thought I’d share some ideas for what to do and see. Wexford is always a popular choice for holidaymakers, it’s close to Dublin and Waterford and has stunning beaches and hotels.

Hook Lighthouse Tour

Ireland’s only operational Lighthouse in the world, and over 800 years old. It’s easy to see why Hook was voted, one of Ireland’s top attractions for tourists.

The guided tour takes you through time, and tells the medieval tale of Knight William Marshal, and what it was like to live and work as a light keeper.

John our tour guide was fantastic, I loved his energy and passion, for the history of the Lighthouse. He took us step by step through the ages and gave us plenty of opportunities to take photographs on top of the balcony.

Family Fun at Hook Lighthouse

There is a host of activities to do for the whole family, including Summer workshops and art classes. The heritage centre beside the lighthouse has a nice coffee shop and playground area outside for family picnics.
