Ever look at your closet and think how did I gather so many clothes? In the last year, I’ve been doing some major clearing out in my home and work space. It all started after I watched the documentary Minimalism on Netflix.
It really inspired me to start a major spring clean and reduce the amount of stuff I buy. Since January I have recycled and donated to charity and have noticed a big change in the amount of space we now have in our home.
You can see here how I got started on creating a clutter free environment.
I’m trying to downsize the amount of clothing I buy and want to invest in key staple pieces that will stand the test of time and see me through to next season.
So with this in mind, I researched the best websites to sell my unwanted stuff.
There are a lot of websites out there that offer to help you sell like Ebay, Gumtree and DoneDeal.
The one I use the most and find it the best for me is Adverts.ie. It’s simple to use and every account is verified with a phone number for security.
This is not an add for Adverts. I just like the website and find it easy to use for buying and selling.
Top Tips For Buying and Selling Online
Do your research and sell in season. I’ve sold two occasion dresses since March a lot of interested buyers where looking to buy for Weddings, Communions and Confirmations.
How to deal with time wasters?
The majority of people looking to buy or sell online are genuine. However from time to time you will come across people who arrange to meet and decide not to turn up.
This can be frustrating especially if you’re looking for a quick sale. Adverts offer customers an option to leave positive and negative feedback.
It’s a great tool to see reviews from other buyers and help you make up your mind whether you want to accept their offer or not.
However its important to take some of the negative feedback with a large pinch of salt. Have a look through the recent comments as you could be just dealing with a difficult person. It’s important to remember you can’t please all of the people all of the time.
What are popular items to sell?
Electrical items i.e. Iphone, Tablets, Baby Monitors.
Occasion wear, Wedding dresses, Debs dresses, Baby (christening) footwear
Jewellery & Watches especially from NEWBRIDGE Silverware.
Honesty is the best policy
When buying or selling online it’s important to be upfront and honest about what you are trying to sell.
Try to be as descriptive as possible and don’t forget to use good photographs.
For example if you’re selling a dress, detail where you purchased it from?
Provide information on size / colour
Is it dry clean only?
What’s the condition of the dress?
Stay Safe
Arrange to meet buyer/ seller somewhere you feel comfortable.
Make sure you get their contact number and details.
Bring someone with you.
